Dr. Jennifer Johannes is a board-certified general surgeon who has been proud to call Montrose home for the past five years. Originally from a small town in Montana, Jennifer’s journey to the operating room began at the bedside. She practiced as a Registered Nurse before pursuing her medical degree—a background that ensures every patient she treats is seen as a person first, and a diagnosis second.

As the lead surgeon and co-owner of High Point Surgery, Jennifer has built a reputation for excellence and patient-first care. She is widely recognized in the community for her dedication, earning a 4.9-star rating with over 190 patient reviews during her time with the practice.

Expertise & Advanced Training

With a Master’s degree in Ethics alongside her medical license, Jennifer brings a thoughtful, patient-centered perspective to every case. She completed her residency training at prestigious institutions, including Memorial Sloan Kettering, and has experience in high-volume trauma centers across the country.

Modern Surgical Techniques
Jennifer is an expert in robotic-assisted surgery, utilizing the latest technology to ensure better, faster recovery outcomes for her patients while maintaining the highest level of precision.
Minimally Invasive Vein Care
In partnership with Medtronic, she offers advanced, in-office varicose vein treatments. This local-anesthetic procedure allows patients to walk in and out, resolving symptoms like leg heaviness and pain with life-changing results.

Commitment to Continuing Education

Medicine is constantly evolving, and Dr. Johannes is committed to staying at the very forefront. She attends the Mayo Clinic’s annual conference for Continuing Medical Education, ensuring her patients in Montrose benefit from the latest surgical advancements.

She is also a passionate advocate for bringing new technology to our local community, including the future implementation of cryogenic treatments for breast cancer, which offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery.

At Home in the San Juans

When she isn’t in the OR, Jennifer is an avid adventurer. Whether she is cross-country skiing on the Grand Mesa, hiking the trails in Grand Junction, or exploring the world, she embraces the active Colorado lifestyle.

She is a dedicated "dog mom" to her rescue dog, Forest, a lover of fine wine, and an enthusiast of great cooking. Between finding the perfect food and wine pairing or relaxing with a favorite TV series like The Pitt, she lives by a simple mantra: "She heals with her hands and loves with her food."

"Every patient deserves the best possible care, tailored to their unique needs and long-term health."
